Help >> Program settings
1. Set your preferred interface language
Settings→Language→...
2. If your computer is connected to the Internet, set up auto-update of the program.
Settings→Options→Internet
Connection via Proxy (if necessary) - check with your system administrator
Settings→Options→Internet→Program updates
Check box "Automatically check for updates" - it is recommended to enable.
If there are no problems with connecting to the Internet - set "every 3 days" and "check at startup"
Checkbox "Update only to stable versions" -
The program is constantly updated and improved. Naturally, after adding new features, something may start to work incorrectly. Some time in the program, appropriate adjustments are made. After that, when no error messages are received for some time, a version declared "stable" is released. It may take more than a month from the moment the new features are introduced.
If you are not afraid of the possibility of encountering program errors - turn off the checkbox "update only to stable versions" - I will be glad to receive your messages about program errors (more precisely, I will be glad to have the opportunity to correct errors). If this checkbox is disabled, you will have access to all the new features of the program and help make the program better.
3. If you have a fast enough Internet connection - set the ability to view maps of the area from the Internet
Settings→Options→Map
Turn on the checkbox "Show map layers from the Internet"
Set max. cache size - depending on the size of your disk. 50 mb. enough to get the job done. If you leave this field blank, the cache size will not be limited. In this case, control the amount of free disk space and, if necessary, delete the cache files (to completely delete the cache in the selected directory, there is a "Clear now" button)
4. In order for the exchange files to be opened in GeoSEE upon double-clicking, set associations with the file types you need in the Settings→Options→File association section
Select the checkboxes with the types of files you are interested in. Click the "Apply" button. If you want to set associations with these files for all computer users, go to the program with administrator rights, select the necessary checkboxes and click the "Apply for all users" button.
Checkbox "Open in a new window" - if enabled, files will always open in a new program window. If disabled, a new program window will not open if the program is running. If the program has already been launched and files have been opened in it, the files will be uploaded. If they have been changed, you will be prompted to write them down or cancel the action.
5. The program supports various exchange file formats. Format recognition settings can be found on the tab Settings→Options→Formats
Here you can set the default coordinate system for each of the supported formats. The default coordinate system will be used when opening a file if there is no coordinate system specified in the file itself. Also, when importing, the exchange file will be created in this coordinate system. Subsequently, the coordinate system of an open file can be set or changed by right-clicking on the title of the bookmark with this file and selecting the "Set coordinate system" item (Ctrl + W).
You can also refuse to recognize the in4 file subformat and always open in4 files in the format approved by the order of GosKomZem dated 05/23/2003. (checkbox "Do not recognize In4 subformat")
6. On the Settings→Options→General tab, you can manage the following settings:
· How many files can be opened at the same time in one program window - select "Open files". If “Main+Additional” is selected, no more than two files can be opened in one program window. Otherwise, you can open any number of exchange files in one program window. Each open file will be placed on its own bookmark.
· If several files are open in the program, they can be compared to display changes in geometry and semantics. The chronological order in which these files participate in the comparison determines the choice "When comparing"
· The reaction to pressing the “Esc” key determines the choice “by the Esc key in the main window” - you can choose to close the window with or without a prompt, minimize or do nothing
· The limit on the maximum number of errors and warnings that is issued for the parsed file in the message panel can be set in the input fields "Maximum number of messages when parsing an exchange file"
· Path to a file in Ntv2 format, which contains a transformation field for transforming coordinates from SK42 to USK2000. When you specify a file, it will be checked by a set of checkpoints, and if the results do not match, a warning will be issued. If the file is not specified, the transformation field built into the program is used. The accuracy of this field is ~10 cm with respect to the official transformation field.
7. General settings for interaction with the map are set on the tab Settings→Options→Map
· You can set the working coordinate system by selecting "Working coordinate system". If you open files in different places in Ukraine, then for a more correct display, it is recommended to select “Pulkovo 42 for Ukraine”. Also, this choice is good if you use Internet maps - they will be displayed faster. However, the disadvantage of this choice is that if the coordinate system of the exchange file is specified incorrectly, its display can be severely distorted.
· The program can display the coordinates that the mouse cursor points to - to do this, hold down the "Ctrl" key. In order to select the coordinate system in which they will be displayed - select "Show coordinates". If "In the coordinate system of the active file" is selected, the coordinates are displayed in the coordinate system that is set for the active exchange file of the program. You can also select "In the coordinate system of the first file" - the coordinates will be displayed in the system of the first file opened in the program; "In the working coordinate system" - the coordinates will be displayed in the system selected as the working one on the same settings tab. In order for the coordinates to be displayed above the mouse cursor (and not just on the information panel) when the “Ctrl” key is pressed, check the box “Show in the window above the cursor”
· When you click on the map with the “Ctrl” key pressed, the program will find a zone, site or site element at the specified point and show it in the right panel, in the list of objects of the current file. If at the same time the “Shift” key is pressed, the elements of the site (lands, restrictions...) will be selected. By default, the search is performed only in the current exchange file. If the checkbox "Search by point - search in all open files" is checked, the search is first performed in the current exchange file. If it is not found in it, the search continues through all the files loaded into this window. If the required object is found in one of them, this file becomes the current one and the found element is highlighted in the list of exchange file objects.
· On the map window, you can show a scale bar and scroll bars - this is the responsibility of the checkbox "Show map scale bar" and the choice of "Map scroll bars"
The checkbox "Alternative mouse wheel processing" is responsible for choosing the way in which the use of the mouse wheel affects the drawing window (see Drawing)
· The checkbox “After the operation of rotating sections, set the accuracy of coordinates” makes it possible to automatically increase the accuracy of coordinates (the number of decimal places in coordinates) for the exchange file after using the “Rotate sections” tool (see Geometry correction mode in the drawing). If it is enabled and the accuracy of the coordinates in the file was less than the specified number of characters, the accuracy of the coordinates in the file will be raised to the specified number of decimal places
8. The appearance of the map, which displays the scheme of objects of downloaded exchange files, can be controlled on the tab Settings→Options→Map→Layer styles
Here you can set styles for different types of objects in exchange files - plots, lands, restrictions, different types of zones, as well as elements of highlighting the current object, etc.
The resulting style scheme can be written down by choosing a name for it, so that you can then quickly apply it to objects on the map.
9. The appearance of the text editor with the downloaded file can be controlled using bookmarks
Settings→Options→Editor
Settings→Options→Editor→Colors
On them you can specify the size and type of the text font, set the syntax highlighting color scheme for the text of the exchange file of the selected format
